Convert a Bank of America statement PDF to Excel
A Bank of America checking statement splits transactions into sections — deposits and other additions, withdrawals and other subtractions — each with its own Date, Description and Amount columns. StmtSnap reads each section, keeps the signs, and puts everything into one spreadsheet in date order.
Excel and CSV are free. QuickBooks QBO is on paid plans. Text PDFs are read in your browser.
Convert now
Before you convert: a text PDF stays on your device. If the PDF is a scan, we show a notice before any page is sent to Google Gemini, and scanned pages need a free account. Excel and CSV are free; Tally XML, QuickBooks QBO and Zoho CSV are on paid plans (pricing).
What a Bank of America statement prints
- Account summary: beginning balance, deposits and other additions, withdrawals and other subtractions, ending balance
- Section tables with Date (MM/DD/YY), Description, Amount
- Withdrawals printed as negative amounts
- A daily ledger balance table, separate from the transactions
The export keeps the transaction date, the full description and the amount split into debit and credit, plus the running balance. Value-date and cheque/reference columns are not exported in this version; a reference printed inside the narration stays in the description.
How StmtSnap reads this layout
Sample and balance check
A synthetic US layout with one signed Amount column, a running balance, and printed debit and credit totals. It is synthetic test data: no real bank, person or account, and the descriptions are random labels, so a payroll line can be a debit. The figures below are what the converter produced from it.
| Date | Description | Amount | Balance |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2026-03-04 | ACH DEPOSIT EXAMPLE CORP PAYROLL | 398.59 | 3549.34 |

How to get your Bank of America statement PDF
Because the transactions sit in separate sections, a converter that reads top to bottom can return deposits first and withdrawals after, out of date order. Excel's sort fixes order, but not a missing row. That is why the totals check matters more than the order: if the rows read do not add up to the printed totals, you see a mismatch before you download.
When a statement gives the engine no printed balance or total it can pair with a number, the result is unverified: the rows are still exported, but nothing on the statement could prove none is missing. Compare the totals by eye in that case.
Questions
- Does Bank of America offer an Excel download?
- Online Banking can download recent activity in spreadsheet formats. Past statement PDFs have no spreadsheet export, which is where a converter is needed.
- Will deposits and withdrawals be in one table?
- Yes. Every section becomes one list of transactions with a Debit and a Credit column, in statement order.
- What does "unverified" mean on my result?
- The rows were read and chain where they can, but the statement printed nothing the engine could use to prove no row is missing. Compare the totals by eye before you rely on the file.
- Is my statement uploaded?
- A text PDF is read in your browser and is not uploaded. Scanned pages go to the scanned-page service only after you are asked, and need a free account.
- Which banks besides Bank of America work?
- Any bank whose statement is a text PDF with a column header naming a date column and at least one money column (Debit/Credit, Withdrawal/Deposit, a single Amount, or Balance). A scanned PDF has no text to read, so it goes through the scanned-page path instead: you see a notice first, and it needs a free account.
