Convert HDFC Bank statement PDF to Excel

HDFC Bank statements export as a PDF with a dense narration column that generic converters mangle. StmtSnap reads HDFC's column layout, so the date, narration, withdrawal, deposit and closing balance land in separate Excel columns.

Excel (.xlsx) and CSV are free, plus Tally XML, QuickBooks QBO and Zoho CSV on paid plans.

Text PDFs are converted in this browser and never uploaded. Scanned PDFs are read by Google Gemini, and we ask first.

Before you convert: a text PDF stays on your device. If the PDF is a scan, we show a notice before any page is sent to Google Gemini, and scanned pages need a free account. Excel and CSV are free; Tally XML, QuickBooks QBO and Zoho CSV are on paid plans (pricing).

Columns on a typical HDFC statement

  • Date
  • Narration (UPI / NEFT / IMPS / cheque detail)
  • Chq / Ref. No.
  • Value Date
  • Withdrawal Amount
  • Deposit Amount
  • Closing Balance

The export keeps the transaction date, the full description and the amount split into debit and credit, plus the running balance. Value-date and cheque/reference columns are not exported in this version; a reference printed inside the narration stays in the description.

How to download your HDFC e-statement PDF

  1. Log in to HDFC NetBanking (or the HDFC Bank mobile app).
  2. Go to Accounts → Account Statement → choose the date range.
  3. Download the statement as PDF (note the PDF password if your account sets one).
  4. Open that PDF in StmtSnap and download the Excel file.

HDFC's narration field often packs the payee, UPI handle and reference into one line. StmtSnap keeps the full narration in a single Excel cell rather than splitting it across rows, so VLOOKUPs and GST matching still work.

If your HDFC PDF is password-protected, type the password when asked; the file is unlocked in your browser and is not uploaded.

Questions

Is the HDFC statement converter free?
Yes. The free tier converts 15 pages per month with no credit card. Most monthly HDFC statements fit inside that.
Does it handle password-protected HDFC PDFs?
Yes. Type the PDF password when asked. The file is unlocked in your browser; neither the PDF nor the password is uploaded.
Can I export the HDFC statement to Tally?
Yes, on paid plans (Starter, Pro, Enterprise). See the HDFC to Tally page for the import steps.
Does it work for HDFC current and credit-card statements?
It reads savings and current account statements. Credit-card statements use the opposite sign convention and are not supported in this version; they show as a mismatch rather than a wrong file.
How accurate is HDFC parsing?
Every conversion is checked before you download: the running balance row by row, and the opening and closing balances where the statement prints them. A HDFC statement that did not read cleanly shows as a mismatch instead of a tidy but wrong file. If that happens, email us the layout with the numbers blanked out.
